The Global Power and Propulsion Society's Inaugural Forum was held on January 16-18, 2017 in Zurich, Switzerland. Prominent keynote speakers John Bolger, Jinzhang Feng, Maxine Ghavi, Christoph Leyens, Theo Maas and Akimasa Muyama addressed representatives from across the industry to exchange new research results as well as explore the impact of new disruptive technologies on their respective fields.

The 2017 Forum was hosted by ETH Zurich, the top university for education and research in continental Europe. The University is centrally located in the city of Zurich, which lies in the heart of Europe and at the center of Switzerland. Zurich has a multicultural flair and the variety of activities on offer attract guests from all over the world to this "region of short routes". Zurich is quick and easy to reach, whether by train, plane or private vehicle. Its international airport has direct connections with over 150 destinations. Zurich has excellent air, rail and road connections. EuroCity and InterCity trains from all directions stop at the Central Station (Hauptbahnhof). Within the metropolitan area there is a combined network of public transportation (called Verkehrsverbund) that comprises a rapid suburban railway (the S-Bahn), trams, buses and boats.
